Description

Only half of one face, edged by a fine roll moulding, is visible. A panel of changing interlace, consisting of two registers of a ring-knot pattern, then a pattern C, a pattern A, and a pattern D loop (Adcock 1974, pl. 167A).

Discussion

This shaft has been plausibly compared in execution and layout with the work of the Durham cross-heads (nos. 5-8), and the Durham grave-cover (no. 11): Introduction, p. 18; Adcock 1974, 343-4.
