Only one carved face is visible.
?A (broad): The face is edged by a double grooved moulding. This encloses a panel of five-strand plain plait in the punched and grooved technique.
This form of `waisted' shaft may be a very late form (see Cheadle, Cheshire: Collingwood 1927, fig. 221). However, the tight plait is more competently executed than on some of the other shafts from this site.
