Description

A (broad): Traces of an incised outer moulding around an originally plain panel for inscription. Traces of paint and mortar.

B (narrow): Panel of four-strand plain plait enclosed in a single roll moulding.

C (broad): Corner of inner grooved moulding and outer roll moulding; otherwise plain.

D (narrow): Missing.

Discussion

The pattern is produced by punching and grooving. This type of simple plait is found at Bothal (no. 2) and the stone could be from that site.
