Description

The socket is roughly shaped with a pick, the marks of which are visible on the sides and base. The surrounding stone of the socket appears to have been cut away.

Discussion

Unless this stone was buried in the ground as an extra support for the foot of a cross, it could not have supported a shaft above ground in its present form.
