Description

A? (broad): The only visible face carries a curved plain border dividing the stone into at least two panels, the lower one flanked by a lateral border on the right. Above the curved band is interlace of an unidentifiable type; below are traces of further relief ornament.

Discussion

The fragment is best reconstructed as the lower segment of the circle of a circle-headed cross and the upper panel of its shaft. This, however, is far from certain, and it must be noted that none of the other circle-heads has such complex, delicate ornament on the circle.

Date
Tenth century(?)
