Church Dedication

Present Condition
At least two sides broken away, and edges obscured by mortar; extremely worn
Description

Only one face is visible.

?B (narrow): The flat plain edge moulding is damaged and partly concealed but it returns round the top of the panel and is quite wide there. Within it is a damaged interlace, apparently plain plait using incised strands of broad but varying width. There are traces of median-incision in places on the strands.

Discussion

The tightly woven interlace suggest a tenth-century date. Collingwood's drawing of the interlace terminal (1907, fig. h on 387) is unreliable.

Date
Tenth century
