A (broad): On the left are the remains of a very broad edge moulding, 6 cm wide. Within the panel is a cross carved in relief with a narrow edge moulding. It has a long stem, 10.5 cm wide and the arm-pits are wide curves: type B10 or E10. The lower limb has a curved tip, the lateral arms straight tips. The upper limb is lost. Flanking the stem on the left is the terminal of a twist in modelled strand with a three-lobed terminal. A damaged version of the same device lies to the right.
B–E: Recut or broken.
This slab is very similar to Spennithorne 2 (Ill. 745). The type is rare in Yorkshire, though Sockburn 25 provides a rough parallel north of the Tees (Cramp 1984, 154, pl. 153, 798). The trilobate terminal is a leaf form, not zoomorphic.
