Description

A stone described as being 'carved both sides with Runic characters' (Bulmer 1890).

Discussion

Appendix C item (lost stones for which no illustration has survived).

It is not certain that this stone carried an inscription. The term 'runic' was habitually used by early antiquaries to describe interlace ornament (see Page, R. 1995, 161, 169, 212). Possibly a reference to Kirby Knowle 1 and 2.
