Object type: Cross-arm fragment [1]
Measurements: L. 24.3 cm (9.6 in) W. 17.5 > 16.5 cm (6.9 > 6.5 in) D. 9.8 cm (3.9 in)
Stone type: Fine-grained, well sorted, feldspathic sandstone. This fragment is very pale brown (10YR 8/3) in colour and has well defined bedding planes; it has not been burnt. Stone provenance as Whitby 1 (abbey, St Peter and St Hilda)

Description
A (broad) : Fragment of an arm, possibly type E10, with broader outer band, 3 cm, and inner roll moulding, 1.5 cm.
B and D (ends), and F (lower) : Broken.
E (upper) : The curve of the arm is smoothly dressed.
Discussion
The shape of the arm and the confident incised moulding is comparable with cross-heads such as Whitby no. 1.
