Object type: Corner fragment of slab [1]
Measurements: L. 35.5 cm (14 in) W. 25.3 cm (9.9 in) D. 10.3 cm (4 in)
Stone type: Medium-grained, feldspathic sandstone, with a sub-rounded, well sorted texture. This slab has been cut parallel to the main bedding direction. The original stone was a brownish yellow colour (10YR 6/6), but has been burnt on some faces (significantly also some of the broken faces) to a red colour (2.5YR 5/6). Stone provenance probably as Whitby 1 (abbey, St Peter and St Hilda)

A (broad) : The corner fragment of a slab with a neatly cut inner roll moulding and outer band 2.5 cm wide enclosing a plain face.
B (narrow) and E (top) : Broken.
C (broad) : Roughly dressed.
D (narrow) and F (bottom) : Plain and smooth.
