Appendix B item (Stones wrongly associated with pre-Conquest period)

A fragment of shaft or panel, built into south wall of the south chancel aisle inside, may be the second fragment noted by Morris (1911, 353) in this location and said to be 'possibly Sax.'. On the right is an outer flat moulding and an inner roll moulding, deeply grooved and filled with plaster. The face is otherwise completely plain, but scabbled to adapt it for use as a building stone. It is too plain for dating.
