Evidence for Discovery
Collingwood (1915a, 209) stated that 'part of a limestone hogback' was found in 1914 by S. Kitson 'in the remains of the early church', reused 'as a foundation or footing stone in the centre of the east wall of the chancel'. It was left in situ and no photograph was taken.
