Discussion

Adcock (1974, pl. 7A) has reconstructed this as part of the same scheme as 17 and this seems probable. However, her drawing fails to account for the break in the pattern at the smoothly dressed edge. Such a break either means that the strip was interrupted at this point by another feature, or that the carving was very long and had to be worked in prefabricated sections.
