Description

A and C (broad): Carved with a relief cross, type E8.

B, D and E (narrow sides and top): Plain.

Discussion

Appendix A item (stones dating from Saxo-Norman overlap period or of uncertain date).

Such round-headed markers which served as head- and foot-stones probably spanned the eleventh century (see also Bolam 1).
