Description

Capital, cut back to a straight edge on both sides for reuse in pigeon house. The top of the capital has been cut down at an angle, removing the top moulding present on no. 1. Much of the wider moulding along the bottom of the capital has also been lost or damaged. The face of the capital curves in slightly towards the bottom moulding. The front face of the capital carries a foliate decoration in relief 1 cm (0.4 in) deep.

Discussion

See Frocester Court 1. This capital is very similar to no. 1, the only differences being in aspects of the decoration. The vertical stem of the central fan of leaves is twisted, while more survives of the terminal spirals on the trailing side strands.
