Stone type: Coarse-grained, very pale brown (10YR 7/3) grit; Millstone Grit, Namurian, Upper Carboniferous; probably reused Roman ashlar, originally from Hetchell Crag (Thorner) or Otley area (see Fig. 5)

Only the upper surface is decorated.
A (top): A flat edge moulding turns the angle of the panel. Within are the remains of indecipherable interlace using flat strands, and terminating in a twist.
There are many grave-covers from York, most in the Metropolitan School, but none with interlace like this. The nearest parallels are pieces such as Stonegrave 8 (Ill. 862).
