A (broad): The lower portion is uncarved, though pick scars are visible. A cabled moulding survives on the left. Within is a rectangular panel defined by a border of pellets. Within is an interlace motif formed from two closed circuit loops using broad, median-incised strands. The spaces between the loops are filled by single pellets; in one case, a cluster of three appears.
B (narrow): Scabbled.
C (broad): Built in.
D (narrow): A cabled edge moulding flanks a panel. There are additional strips of cable top and bottom. Within is a short run of four-strand plain plait using median-incised strands. At its base the face is unworked.
This crude, if bold, carving belongs to the Plait and Pellet Group in the city: compare Parliament Street 1 (Ills. 347–50), and see Chap. 10.
