Evidence for Discovery
Found in late pre-Conquest footings of demolished church on 3rd May 1964 (Yorkshire Museum Record Book, 1964, 3.5)
Church Dedication
St Mary Bishophill Senior
Present Condition
Badly broken
Description

Only one face has carving: an arc of double-outlined strand is crossed by an incised band.

Discussion

There is little diagnostic ornament though the contoured band may be part of a ribbon beast, fettered by the crossing strand. It may be a degenerate version of the local Anglo-Scandinavian animal.
