Current Display: York St Mary Bishophill Senior 21, York Forward button Back button
Overview
Present Location
Inside church of Holy Redeemer, Boroughbridge Road, York, built into spandrel of arcade on south face, above second pier from east
Evidence for Discovery
See no. 3.
Church Dedication
St Mary Bishophill Senior
Present Condition
Extremely broken and worn
Description

Only one face is visible.

Some fragments of a plain edge moulding survive, suggesting an enclosed frame on three sides. Within the panel is clumsy interlace: apparently three-strand plain plait using median-incised strands.

Discussion

Dense interlace using median-incised strands is common in York work of lesser quality.
