Object type: Fragment of grave-cover

Stone type: Very coarse-grained (with quartzite pebbles up to 10 mm), feldspathic, very pale brown (10YR 7/4) grit; see no. 1.

Only the upper face carries decoration.
A (top): The corner has a broad cabled edge moulding, containing the fragmentary remains of unidentifiable interlace. Some gesso survives on the edge moulding.
The fragment could come from either a flat slab or a shallow coped grave-cover, both very common in York.
