Church Dedication
Old Minster
Present Condition
One bed face survives; the carved surface is somewhat battered.
Description
The upper part has a well defined band, 4.5 cm high projecting 1 cm beyond the lower element which slopes inwards. The top is flat with a maximum width of 1.5 cm. There are chisel marks on the bed face.
Discussion
This is very well cut, and could have come from a moulding like Winchester (Old Minster) no. 27, but the fragment is too small to be sure.
Date
Tenth century
