The shaft appears to be lathe-turned, and comprises a block-like super-capital which narrows to fit the shaft, and a base with a rounded moulding at its junction with the shaft.
Discussion
Appendix A item (stones dating from Saxo-Norman overlap period or of uncertain date).
It has been suggested that this shaft represents a later modification of the opening; if so it cannot certainly be classed as Anglo-Saxon.
Date
Stones dating from Saxo-Norman overlap period or of uncertain date.
