Evidence for Discovery
Discovered by the author, January 1987
Church Dedication
Present Condition
One face visible; very worn and damaged
Description

Edge mouldings are lost. One well-modelled profile quadruped sits above another. The upper animal has lost its head and forelegs. The lower one is very worn.

Discussion

Despite being damaged, the animals have the characteristics of the Allertonshire workshop (Chap. VI, p. 44): size, moulding and posture are matched, for example, by Sockburn 4 and 7 in co. Durham (Cramp 1984, pl. 129, 706 and pl. 134, 726, 728). This is the farthest outlier of the group.
