Measurements: H. 21 cm (8.25 in) W. 36 cm (14.2 in) D. 13 cm (5.1 in)
Stone type: Coarse feldspathic Millstone Grit, with poorly sorted, angular to sub-angular grains. Very pale brown (10YR 7/3). Possibly reused Roman stone, and Aldborough seems to be a likely source. Probably originally obtained from the main source of such stone in Roman usage (Upper Plompton Grit, Namurian, Upper Carboniferous) from Nidderdale, south of Knaresborough.

A (broad): A type E10 cross head has a plain moulding round its perimeter. In the centre is a broken boss (2 inches in diameter). Within the lateral arm is very eroded interlace with recognisable hole-points.
B (narrow) : The arm-tip is plain.
C (broad) : A perimeter moulding as on face A. Within the arm is a pair of box-points and bungled symmetrical loop. There is no boss.
D (narrow) : Broken.
Susan Harrison's fine measurement shows that a 1-inch unit of measure was used. The span of the cross-head would have been 15 inches. The interlace echoes the 'Brompton loop' usage (Fig. 12, p. 47).
