Description

Possibly the swag of a round-shaft derivative. The broad flat moulding sweeps round the swag and contains within it a damaged animal on its side.

Discussion

This may be of the same type as Gilling West 2 (Ills. 266–9), and examples in Cumbria and Ryedale demonstrate how widespread it was (see Chap. IV, p. 25).
