Object type: Neck of cross-shaft [1]
Measurements: H. 22 cm (8.6 in) W. 27.5 > 24.5 > 20.5 cm (10.8 > 9.6 > 8 in) D. 14 > 13.5 cm (5.5 > 5.3 in)
Stone type: Medium-grained deltaic sandstone with distinctive limonite coatings on the well rounded grains. This stone also contains small limonite nodules up to 30mm in size. There are darker coloured bedding planes parallel to the main cut face. Reddish brown (7.5YR 6/6). Stone provenance as no. 1

The lower arm and traces of the upper shaft of a free-armed cross outlined by a roll moulding.
A and C (broad) : Both faces are covered with median-incised interlace of an indeterminate type.
B and D (narrow) : The edges of the arm are plain; the upper parts of the shaft are damaged.
This fragment appears to have been quite competently carved, but is not diagnostic in form or ornament.
