Object type: Fragment
Measurements: 7 cm (2.75 in) x 11 cm (4.75 in); D. Built in
Stone type: This too is heavily lichen encrusted. However, there are some very small patches exposing a yellowish grey (5Y 8/1), medium-grained, calcareous sandstone with a few scattered dark (?glauconite) grains. The clasts, which are sub-angular to sub-rounded, vary between 0.3 and 0.6 mm across. Probably Shaftesbury Sandstone Member, Upper Greensand Formation, Lower Cretaceous; certainly not Portland [limes] Stone as suggested by Jope (1964, 102, n. 88).

It is not possible to make out the details of this piece but it is possibly part of a plant-scroll with a leaf issuing from a coiled tendril.
This may be part of the same monument as Batcombe 1 since it has the same sharp, widely-spaced strands. It is probably inset upside down in the wall.
