A (long): Framed in a wide flat moulding is part of a frieze of straight balusters.
B (narrow) and C (long): Broken.
D (narrow): Dressed smooth but the moulding does not appear round the edge.
This appears to be part of an impost of the type found at Hexham (nos. 23-8) which could possibly have been related to the Jarrow friezes. However, it is not clear if this fragment comes originally from the demolished domestic buildings or a demolished part of the church, such as the southern range of porticus.
