Present Condition
The roll moulding is damaged on all sides and faces B, C, and D are heavily worn
Description

Arm from cross-head probably type A9. The ornament on all four faces was bordered by a roll moulding.

A (broad): Interlace of simple pattern E terminal with continuation of uncertain type; the strands are deeply cut and median-incised.

B (narrow): Only vestigial traces of relief ornament appear towards the top of the panel (interlace with median-incised strands?).

C (broad): Traces of interlace formed by median-incised strands.

D (narrow): All that now survives are traces of indecipherable interlace.

Discussion

Neither the shape of the cross arm nor the ornament provide any firm evidence for date.

Date
Possibly tenth or eleventh century
