Description

The arm is almost a hammer-head (type A5), but the broad, curved end and widely curving arm-pits are more reminiscent of type E9.

A and C (broad): A broad, plain perimeter moulding is cut roughly with a punch.

B and D (narrow): Plain.

Discussion

This shape of cross-arm is very unusual for York or the surrounding area. The ornament is so restrained as to be undiagnostic.
