The arm is small and of Type D9.
A (broad): A broad outer flat-band and inner roll moulding enclose a neat interlace, executed in fine, flat strands. The changing pattern comprised: a unit, probably of simple pattern F, nearest the centre of the cross-head; then U-bends flanked by two pellets; and, in the terminal, a register of what was probably pattern D with sharply pointed terminal loops.
B (narrow): Plain, within a broad, flat-band moulding. The face is worn, with some signs of burning.
C (broad): The mouldings are similar to face A's, as are the form of the interlace strands contained within them. The pattern is again a changing one, beginning with what was probably the start of a unit of half pattern A nearest the centre, then two closed circuit pattern D loops, and, in the arm-terminal, a register of closed circuit pattern B.
D (narrow): Broken away.
E (top) and F (bottom): Plain and damaged.
There is no evidence of the ring surmised by Collingwood (1907, 359). The size of the cross is surprisingly small and the delicacy of the controlled interlace matches it. The flat strand is carefully cut and 0.25 in wide. Pattern D interlace is common in Bernicia at this period, Adcock citing parallels at Norham, Northumberland, and Monkwearmouth, co. Durham. Pattern B is found in southern Deira (Adcock 1974, I, 131).
