A (broad) : A plate-head cross of type B10 with curved arm-pits and wedge-shaped arms, the upper arm-tip slightly convex. The cross had a narrow modelled edge moulding. In the centre is a damaged circular boss. In each arm is a pattern F 'Brompton loop' (Fig. 12, p. 47), connected to the next by a continuous modelled strand. The hole-points are well defined and spaced at 1.25 inches.
B (narrow) : The arm-tip has a narrow well modelled edge moulding containing four-cord plain plait in four regular stages in narrow modelled strand.
C (broad) : As face A. The boss is damaged.
D (narrow) : The plate is damaged at the top. The arm-tip has a modelled edge moulding with neat four-cord plain plait of five stages in narrow modelled strand.
This cross-head is based on the same template as several examples at Brompton nearby: for example, nos. 9 and 10 (Ills. 51–4, 55–7). The 'Brompton loop' and the controlled griding shown by the hole-points make it likely that it is a product of the Allertonshire workshop (see Chap. VI, p. 44).
